Researching the Project Type

This step of researching what type of project is to be executed is mandatory if the programmer is working on a project type for very first time or even if the individual is a seasoned programmer. The programmer should become acquainted with some of the following applicable information while trying to execute this task which will assist the research work significantly:

* The sorts of spaces often included in the building type should always be taken into consideration.
* The space factors like the number of square feet per head or unit for those spaces must be noted and kept in mind.
* Characteristic relations of spaces for these functions should be created.
* Characteristic ratios of net assignable square footage (NASF areas that are assigned to a function) to gross sq footage (GSF total area to the outside walls) for this building type must be calculated.
* Common costs according to per square foot rate for this building type is to be calculated while researching the type of project.
* Characteristic site prerequisites for the project type
* Regional issues that might change the precision of the information above in the case of this project should be considered before anything else so that if there is a change required, then it can be done instantly.
* Technical, mechanical, electric, security, or other issues related to the project type should be known. This information can be taken from literature on the building analysis of plans of existing projects, expert consultants acquainted with the building type, and/or cost estimating services.
