| Role of an Architect |
An architect is a term which is related with the construction industry. An architect is a trained person who is always associated in the planning, design and also engaged in oversight of the construction building and he is licensed to practice as architecture. An architect plays a vital role in planning, designing and construction of buildings.
The role of an architect is as follows.
Design role- An architect should be a good designer and he is also responsible for creating the design which will meet the requirements of the client. He should have to come up with the planned project that should clear all the doubts of the clients and will accept the project plan without any query. About regulations & building codes architecture have to deal with local and federal jurisdictions. The architect should know about the local planning and zonal laws such as height limitations, parking requirements, land use and transparency requirements. Documentation role- Documentation is a very important role played by an architect. An architect has responsibility to document the design concept in such a manner that it will provide detail drawings and information directly to the contractors. Here the transition is required in order to convert design language in to construction terms and it will also give an information, direction and instructions. Generally this documentation is unavoidable. The documents made by the architect must be co-ordinary; complimentary, supplementary and inseparable. Architects also have to prepare technical or working document and that will be coordinated and supported by other disciplines like mechanical, plumbing, electrical, civil, structural etc. i.e. engineers.
Construction role- On behalf of clients architect put their projects in tenders. He also gives an advice to the general contractor while construction is under progress. Architectures generally prepares and issues the site instructions, construction contract administration. Architect is also engaged in certificates of payment of the contractor. The architect’s services may be extensive or less inclusive depending upon client’s needs & jurisdiction requirements. |
